Navigating Our Sunday Gathering

To all who are weary, and need rest; to all who mourn, and long for comfort; to all who fail, and desire strength; to all who sin, and need a Savior, we open wide our doors with a welcome from Jesus himself, the Friend of sinners.

Planning Your Visit

We gather for worship every Sunday at 10:00 AM on the border of Green Lake/Roosevelt neighborhoods at 564 NE Ravenna Blvd. Seattle, WA, 98115. We are the green church with red doors! We have coffee and tea available before service so you are invited to come early and get to know someone or just sit in quiet in preparation for worship.

If you are coming by car there is ample parking in the church parking lot, as well as the commuter lot that is free on Sundays next to the church under the interstate. If you are coming by light rail the Roosevelt Station is within walking distance just minutes away from the church. Bus stops are also located nearby to the church. As you enter the building please grab a worship bulletin off the table in the entry so you can follow along with our liturgy. Restrooms are located downstairs. For those children coming to worship we provide clip boards, a children’s worship activity, and color pencils. These are located on the main table as you walk-in. For more information on children’s ministry, please see below. We look forward to meeting you!

Our Sunday Worship

Worship of the Triune God is at the heart of who we are as a church. As we worship, so we are, so we become, and so goes the world. Just as a single river flowed from the Edenic garden in the beginning of time turning into four rivers to water the earth, and just as a river will flow from the Garden-City at the end of time for the healing of the nations, so our time in-between is focused on sacred-space. We believe gathered worship is a place of renewal — personally, corporately as church, but even civically and culturally for our city.

Our worship service follows a historic liturgy that dates back to the early church and is a journey through the Gospel story. We pray a lot of prayers, sing ancient and new hymns, read a lot of Scripture, move our bodies, hear a sermon, and feast together on Christ at His table. All of this is aimed at bringing us to share in God’s Triune life. As such, worship is not so much about what we give to God but what he gives to us — gracious fellowship with himself through Jesus and by the Spirit. But even there, what we receive, we are called to give for the life of the world. Our Sunday liturgy is to shape and inform our everyday liturgies. Just as the Lord’s table generously gives us life, so we aim for our tables at home, in the pub, or wherever, to be life giving sites of the Gospel.

Children in Worship & Children’s Ministry

We love seeing kids in gathered worship and active in the service. Hearing their noises and seeing them struggle keeps us from taking ourselves too seriously. We believe Jesus was onto something when he said, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.” From the beginning God has not only called individuals to himself, but whole families, and this means when God calls mom and dad to worship, he is also calling their children to join with them.

That being said, we also take seriously the call to walk with parents in their child’s discipleship, recognizing “it takes a church to raise a Christian.” At Harbor we provide space for younger children during worship where they are invited to learn the Scriptures and engage in actitivities from our trained teachers. Not only is this environment nurturing, caring and loving, we also strive to make it safe. All of our teachers have undergone a thorough background check and training and adhere to established protocols in order to provide safe and proper care to our children.

  • On the first and last Sundays of each month we offer children’s worship training during the time of the readings, sermon, creed, and prayers of the people. Children are dismissed by the rector with a prayer and they are led by teachers to the designated children’s room right off the sanctuary. Children will be led through a small liturgy that include songs, prayers, and a short lesson; altogether this portion is about 35-40 minutes of the service.

  • On the other Sundays we only provide a children's ministry cart with craft activities and books in the designated children’s room. We will also provide a monitor that streams the audio of the service for those parents who will be with their children. Please note that each child will need to be supervised by one of their parents during the weeks we do not have scheduled teachers

  • For nursing moms, the church office is available for your use. A cozy room to the left of the sanctuary with plenty of seating.
